We draw together, Tilly & I. She wanted to draw milkshake and ribena. So thats what we drew. Most of my sketchbook pages look like this at the moment, I quite like it, she makes wonderful marks on the pages.
We are moving to our new studio soon!! very exciting - a rough drawing here of the building. We have the top floor, with our own entrance from the side street. Nigel is pulling up old carpet and sanding back and replacing floorboards. We have discovered it used to be a dentist surgery in the 50's which explains the big holes cut in the floorboards to accommodate the chairs!
I spilt some paint on the floor. It was such a yummy colour I had to take a photo. Although, this photo doesn't really do it justice, a bit more blue I think. The colour I was painting is for the cover of a book called Littledog, written by Katrina Germein, and is to be published by Scholastic in early 2010.
An illustration I recently did for Pet Lifestyle magazine - an article called Priceless Pets about caring for our pets on a budget. Thank you Robyn at Nuance Multimedia for the opportunity to work on this!
I am a freelance illustrator based in Murwillumbah, Northern NSW, where I live with my husband Nigel Beard, daughters Olympia & Matilda, Peggy our kelpie and the guinea pig, Cocoa Truffle Bean.
Nigel & I run a small graphic design studio together, Ainslie Beard, where I spend most of my time illustrating children's books, designing book covers, drawing and printmaking.
My work can be seen in books and magazines, on covers, stationery, greeting cards, posters, promotional material and in advertising.
