I picked up a gorgeous 1970's bike with handmade frame & all french & italian parts from the Salvos recently, for $50! love that shop. It is very very light & has a red frame with a white seat, white handlebars. I'm in love with it.

But... here are two new books out now! Well, One Sheep Two Sheep has been out for a while I must admit. I am very happy with it & the girls love it too, esp Tilly (it is dedicated to her) & funny thing every time we read it she reads the dedication very carefully, 'for Tilly ...' Actually, this has made her more aware of dedications in all books and reads them out, but believes that the actual book belongs to that person...

And next book...
When I Love You At Christmas. Due for release soon. I used collage and painting for this one, it looks lovely and Vida has designed it beautifully.

Both books are published by Little Hare Books.

Tilly turns three next week - I haven't done a thing about it yet! so I thought I had better quickly put a little invite together for a couple of her friends as she is getting so excited about her party she is having... 5 candles, strawberry cake, party hats, she is very definite about what she wants although I did explain she will be having just the three candles. But she so desperately wants 5 as when she turns 5 she can go to school...

We are moving to our new studio soon!! very exciting - a rough drawing here of the building. We have the top floor, with our own entrance from the side street. Nigel is pulling up old carpet and sanding back and replacing floorboards. We have discovered it used to be a dentist surgery in the 50's which explains the big holes cut in the floorboards to accommodate the chairs!

I spilt some paint on the floor. It was such a yummy colour I had to take a photo. Although, this photo doesn't really do it justice, a bit more blue I think.
The colour I was painting is for the cover of a book called Littledog, written by Katrina Germein, and is to be published by Scholastic in early 2010.

goodbye cusi dog

We had to make the decision to get Cusi dog put down yesterday. She never did quite recover from when she was hit by a car a couple of months ago, and with her old age amongst other things, it was her time. We spent one last day with her, took her to the beach for a swim, as that was her absolute most favorite thing to do. Then for lunch she had her own meat pie and when we got home, a wash after her swim at the beach, and she had her own roast chicken for dinner. We gave her big hugs and thanked her very much for all her wonderful years she gave us. She was nearly 14. We miss you Cusi Dog. We miss her sitting under Tilly's chair waiting for dropped food, we miss –in Olympia's words– 'her lovely footsteps across the kitchen floor', her waggy tail, her kind eyes. x

I drew Tilly in the bath this evening, I always want to draw her and never get a chance to, either she is rushing around everywhere and just doesn't keep still for a second or she just wants to join in drawing too, and takes the pencil and draws her own picture on the paper (or wall or floor or book or clothes) or usually it's just I don't have time. But here she is now, playing with her little cups and things in the bath.

I found this old 'National scribbling diary' from 1959 - a daily planner really, and most of the pages are blank, great for a sketchbook, even though the corners have been chewed off by mice! I am really enjoying drawing in it. Trying to get back to drawing something from life everyday.
